I have a Compaq Prolinea 4/66, a super compact and super quiet machine. It’s a 486 DX-2 66.
Some info on The Retro Web, though this lies about the 4GB disk support.
There is an interesting overview here.
There seem to be other machines called Prolinea 4/66, that are all quite different.
Cache
It has no built in cache, but it does have an unusual connector for it (with a big cool plastic placeholder put in there).
It’s really tricky to work out what is supposed to go in here, particularly given there are other machines with very different cache modules and the same name, but a helpful thread on VOGONS gave some pointers, and even some photos which I will archive here in case the source vanishes.
Photos not mine!

I’m going to try to eBay these, but… well, patience is a virtue!

- Very interesting write up by someone who recently (2024) recovered one of these machines: http://www.alexandrugroza.ro/microelectronics/repair-maintenance/compaq-prolinea-466/index.html. Note that his board is a bit different to mine (DeskPro XE?) so I guess they’ll fit into the same case? Still no cache though, the same awful module as I have.
